Photo Phriday 31 – High Five

The bunny peeps get it wrong a lot. When they DO manage to get it right, however rare that is, they treat themselves to some High Fives. They deserve it.

As July creeps up on us I wanted to keep you guys informed of what we’re going to be up to. July 17-19 is OTAKON, and we’ll be there in the Artist’s Alley. If you’re attending the con be sure to pop by and check us out. We’d love to hear from readers in person.

Also, July 16 is Super Art Fight 4 at the Ottobar. For Baltimore locals, GO! For people who are not local but are going to be coming into Baltimore early for Otakon, GO! It’s a fun time and you can get to meet the creators of some great webcomics such as Erfworld, Art Fight High School, The System, Sudden Valley, and lots more. Be sure to check it out if you can.

Re: To Catch A Rice Ball

Sometimes I have so much I want to show visually I can’t do it in my normal 2 rows. Sometimes I have to bust out THREE ROWS OF COMIC! As it happens, today’s comic is one of those that needed some extra space. Expect this to happen a bit more in the near future as I have some visually intensive stuff I want to get into.

Also, Otakon is next week. If you’re heading to the con, be sure to stop by our table in the Artist’s Alley. We’re at table K-13 on THE MAP. We’d love to hear from you.

Amu prepares her amigurumi stock for convention appearances in a rather assembly line process. Lots of parts are made, limb by limb, body by body, and assembled later. I stumbled upon a couple of Katamari Prince headcaps and decided Ninja could play pretend he’s the Ninja of all Cosmos.

OK, so it isn’t exactly working out for him. Let’s leave that rolling up new stars bit to the professionals.

Just a reminder that Otakon is next week. If you’re going, see us. If you’re in town early, do your best to make it out to Super Art Fight 4 at the Ottobar Thursday night before the con. It’s a really good time.

Otakon Mini Recap

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Just a quick THANK YOU to folks that stopped by the table during Otakon this past weekend. While the comic admittedly took up a relatively TINY corner of Amu’s table, we gave away all of our business cards and about half of the promo sample comic postcards we had made for the con. To anybody stopping by because they took one of those things, “HOWDY.” We’re glad to have you.

The weekend was a draining one, and I found myself not experienceing any of the con since I stayed in the Artist’s Alley the entire weekend. I thought I was in good shape until we got home and I crashed, hard, for the rest of the night. I woke up once, to eat, and went to bed. I’m equally tired today.

I ended up having a tremendously hilarious experience in the Thursday night pre-reg badge pickup line, though, which will take the focus of this week’s comic. I love cons and I hate cons, for various reasons I’ll get into later. For now, we’ll see you guys later. Thanks for visiting!

Re: Line Crossing

Otakon started off on a frustrating foot and ended far too quickly. Today’s comic illustrates, practically verbatim, my experience in the pre-reg line on Thursday. It’s difficult to portray in 6 panels all of what happened in the five hours I spent in line. Suffice it to say there was a Rowan Atkinson looking dude who tested almost to failure what I consider to be a monumental patience.

While at the con I never left the Artist’s Alley and the result was a quick convention. It just felt, over. I may make it a point to do more next year. Our table’s focus was on Amu’s knits and crafts first, and the comic second. Next year we’re hoping to get two tables to get equal exposure to both our projects. Fingers are crossed I’ll have some merchandise by then.

I’d like to thank Dan, Nick, Marty, Jamie, and Jamie for stopping by to say howdy. If I’ve missed anyone let me know. I confess to being in a half-sleep zombie mode all weekend and there’s much that’s slipped my mind.

Also, it was brought to my attention that comments were closed if you weren’t logged in. That was a tremendous oversight and has been fixed. So, there you have it. Comment away!
