Kuno fashions herself an art fan. Her favorite artist of all time? HOKUSAI. If you’ve looked at much Japanese woodblock printed art before you’ve seen his work. If you’re familiar with this wave, you know who Hokusai is.
Amu and I were lucky enough to stumble upon a free Hokusai exhibit in DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival a few years ago. It was a downpour and we were drenched, looking for someplace to dry and saw a museum letting people in. We were completely in awe. We stopped and looked at every piece, read every word we could. It was enthralling, and well worth missing hours of the street festival.
I hope to one day again accidentally stumble upon tremendously moving art I’d never seen before. I really love having my eyes opened.
