Howdy Johnny Wander Peeps

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

So I’m at work, see, just going through the paces and Marty from Art Fight High School says I might want to check my traffic. Instant anxiety. I’m pretty new at this whole shebang, so you all seem to have caught me in the midst of figuring it all out. Welcome. I hope you find it as fun to look at as it is to make.

I’ve told Amu about all of the eyeballs and she’s tickled silly. If you’re going to be at Katsucon, check out the Art Auction for some of Amu’s amigurumi, as she’ll have at least a couple of things for sale there. We should also have some posters out and about, so be sure to look for them if you’re at the convention.

Thanks Ananth and Yuko for the mad pimpage. It was great to see you guys be awesome at December’s Super Art Fight show. I really hope to see you guys around sometime, and maybe I’ll find a way to get the butterflies out of my gut and say Howdy in person.

Photo Phriday 12

Wow, the last time I blogged was last Friday. I’ve got to get better about that. So today I wanted to take a photo involving something that Amu is going to have with her at Katsucon. While we aren’t working the con, we’ll be bringing some amigurumi and other crocheted things with us to put in the Art Show. Originally I wanted to take a photo of the project she was working on at the moment, but you’ll have to wait to see that at Katsucon if you happen to be there (and happen to have your ID proving you’re 18 or older.) Instead I decided to mess around a bit.

Katamari Noir? Maybe. Just having a bit of fun with some of the amigurumi sitting around the house.

Also, if you happen to be attending Katsucon next weekend, be sure to check out a panel on Friday evening from 7pm-8pm on Photo-based webcomics. I’ll be on the panel with Darren Gendron who does the webcomic Dear Pirate.

Welp, it’s been another week and nary a post since last Friday. Truth told, I’ve been very busy preparing for Katsucon and helping Amu out with some of her projects. To complicate things, I’ve never been entirely sure what to say in the blog. Do I keep it comic oriented? Amigurumi focused? Do I rant and rave and babble as I might do on a personal blog? I haven’t figured out the balance yet in my head. If there’s anything you folks would like me to talk about, let me know. I could use some help here.

This photo was taken this past weekend. In fact, if you follow my Flickr photos, you’ll have noticed I posted this there already. I wanted to knock this week’s photo out ahead of time since we’d be at the convention and I wouldn’t be able to guarantee the photo posted on time. I plan on taking oodles of photos during the convention, so keep watching the blog after this weekend to catch when I post some of them.

Late, Late Katsucon Stuff

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

So Katsucon was two weeks ago, and I’d already made a promise to get my thoughts up. It appears I’m even more terrible at time management than I originally thought. I probably did more con stuff this year than I have in all previous Katsucon’s I’ve attended. There’s also a lot of stuff I DIDN’T do that I’d planned to. Either way, here’s some stuff from Katsu.

There’s Going To Be A Fight!

I have the good fortune to know some very cool, very productive people. They are hyper-creative folk who get a lot done, and have been not only part of the inspiration behind why I’m doing this comic in the first place, but contribute to helping me continue. Every once in a while they let me play Event Photographer for one of the most fun live events I’ve ever been to. This Saturday I’ll be taking photos of Super Art Fight 6!

If you’re in the Baltimore area this Saturday head on down to The Ottobar and see a live art battle, live music, and wild crowd. If you’ve never been, and have the time, you owe it to yourself to experience THIS MUCH AWESOME!
