Faux Pas

Happy Halloween everybody! I know we just started this journey a couple of days ago, but we wanted to be sure and wish anyone stopping by a great day. Enjoy yourselves out there tonight, and eat some candy for us!

After missing a week, I promised myself to step up my game to make up for it. This week’s photo involves crocheted fighting action! This is just an experiment and a tease for what’s to come. Within the month of January there WILL be action scenes in introduced to the story. With luck, I can pull these off without seeming too corny.

Val, the giant squid, has kidnapped Ninja’s only friend in Amitown.

As I try and learn to be a better photographer I find I’m spending more time than I truly ought to on various Flickr group discussion boards. One of my favorites is the Strobist group, official Flickr group for the David Hobby’s Strobist blog, where creative off camera lighting is king. It was there I got the idea to do this:

There was a thread on how one might set up to shoot this original Gran Torino movie poster. In the thread some people emulated it rather well and I took their suggestions and tried to apply it to one of the amigurumi. I can say that I understand the technique, but this amigurumi Katamari Prince just doesn’t have enough distinguishing features to really stand out with the exception of the antennae, and even then you’d have to know what you’re looking at. Either way it was a fun shot.

I’d also done a shot of one of Amu’s Blythe dolls here. So funny.
