Re: Details Are Blurry

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

In the past couple of weeks I’ve been gearing up to start delving more into my photography, to the point of booking shoots for this month. Granted, these are free, ‘favor’ shoots, but I’m hoping to get the people I’m doing them for on board with treating them like the shoots are pro jobs and they are clients paying for them. I’d like everybody to be on the same page as far as dedication to produce quality is concerned. I got myself pretty busy, and find it hard not to lose track of stuff.

In today’s comic the bunny peeps know what that’s like, focusing so much on what they think will happen they lose track of what’s going on. I know what that’s like. I was looking so far ahead to the other things I have this month that I forgot about the comic until late yesterday evening and had to put something together that was entirely unwritten and unplanned. It turned into a very late night, but I got it done.

Also, I was sent a link I wanted to post here, but I can’t get e-mail at work. Will be posting it later.

Photo Phriday 42 – Thinker

Our original intent when planning for Amu’s World was to have lots of cameos. We had plans for several recognizable characters to show up on a semi-frequent basis. Real life’s had other plans for us, unfortunately, and we’ve been relegated to using the one.

Amu started out making the Katamari Damacy prince at conventions. It started as an experiment for fun and turned into the thing people look for when we do shows. It’s been a while since he’s been seen, so I’m dedicating this Photo Phriday to the little guy that kind of started it all.

The fighting continues in today’s comic as Ninja and Juan take on Kaizoku. I’ve had this big, multi-fight battle sequence in my head for a while, and now that I’m on it I can’t help but feel I’m losing people. Over the past month stats have taken a dive and it’s either coincidence or lack of interest in the fights.

What say you, readers? Do you like the fight sequences? Do you NOT like them? Let me know. I’m pretty keen on keeping folks interested in the comic, and if lengthy fights are driving people away I’ll either keep them brief or skip them altogether and stick with the gag-a-day formula. I’m very close to hitting 1 year without missing an update, and I want that second year to focus on establishing a clear voice with the comic. With your feedback I can help provide a voice you want to hear. 🙂

Thanks again for reading.

The Beatles: Rock Band came out this week, and while I won’t be playing it anytime soon (the perils of being pretty darned poor,) I’m excited that it came out. I know lots of Beatles fans that have been playing their fingers raw since release day, and I can only imagine how fun it is.

Today’s Photo Phriday is a tribute to the band in honor of the game being released. Fans of the band should recognize the iconic photo I imitate here. Was fun putting together. To those playing the game, HAVE FUN! I know enough people that have it already that I’m sure I’ll be playing it soon enough. Rock on, folks.

Re: Ninjas Collide

What’s this? Actual fighting? Sort of? Today’s comic features some ninja vs. panda fisticuffs, which I actually find to be very hard. When I’m writing for fights I tend to write, “a few panels of fighting,” and scribble some dialogue notes. When I sit down to shoot the comic for that week it’s a festival of curses as I try and figure out how they should be fighting. The amigurumi’s limited mobility really hinder attaining the things I see in my head, but I work with what I have.

Also, I keep forgetting to mention that we’ll be at Nekocon this November. Amu’s primarily attending as a Fiber Artist in the Artist’s Alley there, but the comic will have a small section to itself with amigurumi characters and postcards. Our focus for representing Amu’s World at cons is getting new eyeballs. Sometime in our second year we’ll put some more effort into getting merchandise for folks who may want to support what we’re doing here.

Until then, though, keep reading! We love it that you stop by.

A true gang, the Bunny Peeps keep with certain Yakuza standards and run a gambling business.

Incidentally, with all of the Amitown citizens having fled, they find themselves the only members. They prey on each other ferociously for what little they scrounge. As one may expect, Chance wins pretty much all of the time.
