Re: Ding. Ding.

The Rocky film references continue in the title for today’s comic. If you get it, you are awesome. If you don’t, then I’d recommend you watch some more Rocky, STAT!

If you’ve noticed things are quiet here when you don’t count the comic and Photo Phriday, you’re not alone. I notice it too. I’m still trying to figure out how much of the comic’s blog should be comic related and how much should be about me and the things I’m into. My interests and hobbies are many and varied, and I’ve been quite hesitant to inject too much of myself into the comic’s blog. I just don’t think people would be interested. That’s what a personal blog is for, and while part of me does miss having one, I can’t figure out whether to just plop it here or start something else just for that purpose.

So do you guys care at all what dumb stuff I have to say or are you content with just stopping by and reading the comic once a week?

In a tremendous error in judgement I managed to pack my camera up for our trip to the beach without first taking a photo for today. As such, I’ll be posting a photo taken by Amu at the Maryland Herb Festival back a couple years ago.

In this photo a very tiny Prince shares a tiny strawberry meal with a character from one of Amu’s favorite amigurumi sites Wawaya. Look at’em relaxing and enjoying themselves. As you read this, I’ll be at the beach, trying to take photos and not get sand in my camera. Good times.

The problem with updating once a week is that it can take a while to get to things. In today’s comic I finally get to something that’s been planned for months now. Ninja’s crush has been in the works since before we introduced Kuno and Momo. It’s with this that my tendency to take a while to tell a long tale comes into the light.

Every story I’ve ever had in my head is practically epic in scale. I have great difficulty telling a short story, which is why I’ve never written down anything. Most of my stories live in my head, and only in my head. This isn’t a good thing, and I do need to sit down and get them out of my nugget. We’ll see. I’ve been on a short story kick lately and with luck I’ll learn a bit more about scaling things down and how to pace these things.

I hope I never lose my job. I may have to force myself to, I dunno, get stuff done. ::GASP!::

I came back from vacation tired, and not looking forward to returning to the real world. I got some ho-hums pretty bad and then something surreal happened that’s seeing me do a 180. I’m glad for that. Sorry for being cryptic.

I realized it’s been a bit since I had a Photo Phriday focus on the Bunny Peeps. Here’s Warusan, ever smoking one of his cigars. It’s never occurred to me to pick a brand (or make one up). Maybe that’ll be a topic for another day.

Today’s comic sets the stage for some exciting fighting action. In the coming weeks I’m going to have some late nights preparing what I hope to be some exciting stuff. The fight scenes are much more time consuming than regular strips. I’m going to pull out the stops and experiment a bit with angles and composition.

Speaking of fights, get ready for Super Art Fight 5!

The stills in that video, incidentally, came from me. Sometime before SAF5 I hope to get folks together for a proper roster photo shoot. That’s a HUGE step for me creatively and should test the limits of my ability to put something like this together. It’s not too far away, so the ball needs to get rolling. Photo shoot planning AHOY!

Ninja and Juan seem to always be fighting. They fight so much, in fact, some may confuse them for brothers (they are absolutely NOT, by the way.)

On a personal note, things have been going on in the background that have me ready to take some steps towards meeting a few photography related goals. I’m eager to see these things in motion, but I’m not sure what lasting effect it may have on the comic. I’m still having a blast putting this thing together every week, so I’m going to try my hardest to make sure nothing interferes.

I know I’m not winning any awards for this here strip, but I hope at least the few sets of eyeballs coming back every week enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy putting it together. Take care.
