Re: Number Juan Fan

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Today’s comic introduces a new character. Kunoichi marks the first female character to be featured in Amu’s World. To celebrate this with all of you, we’re going to share something of hers with our readers.

That’s right. You, too, can experience the Juan’s Carpet poster as your desktop wallpaper in the following resolutions:
Download Wallpaper ( 1280×800 | 1024×768 | 1280×1024 | 1440×900 | 1680×1050 )

These were the top 5 resolutions used to visit the site. If you would like this wallpaper in a resolution that isn’t listed here leave a comment or shoot an e-mail to us and we’ll get you one.

In addition, some of you may be wondering exactly what that book Kunoichi is holding might be. Wonder no longer. Click the image for big sized madness.

We like Juan a lot here, and hope you do too. In fact, if you have a favorite Amu’s World character, let us know and we’ll see about getting some character specific downloads and content available.

Home Is Where The Yarn Is

It can’t be said about me that I can knit or crochet. I tried once, but it’s not something I have the patience for. Having tried though, and having helped Amu out on some of her projects I have nothing but respect for those who have the discipline to sit down and make something out of thread and sticks. You’re essentially creating your own fabric to manipulate into what you’re trying to get out of your head. I’ve seen some things that challenge the idea that it’s less a craft and more an artform. This is one of those things.

Tossed in my line of sight by a good friend I was a teenager with, this blew me away. This is the sort of determination and creativity that keeps Amu and I here thinking of ways to improve the comic. This is nothing short of awesome.

Also, Photo Phriday will be up later this evening, but it WILL be up today. Promise.

Photo Phriday 26 – On Top Of Her World

Friday, May 15th, 2009

This ‘getting quite late’ version of Photo Phriday is all about Kunoichi, our new character. She’s got her stuff together and knows exactly what she wants out of life and is ready to reach out and grab it.

Not afraid of packing up and moving out, she hasn’t settled in one place long enough to make many friends. Next week we meet the one person she’s managed to latch on to.

Re: Won’t You Take Me To…

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

We meet another new character, and our second female character in today’s strip. I also don’t mind telling you that new characters are to come, most of which Amu should have the chance to make this weekend. We’ll have plenty of time to work on things.

Yep. We’ll be at Balticon as webcomics guests. I’m very nervous and excited to be representing myself and the comic for the first time at a con. I’ll be doing my first official panels and I’m ready to go and meet people and try to get folks reading the comic. If you’re going, stop by and say hello. If not, don’t worry. We’ll have photos and stories and other things to share.

In addition to that, once we’re back from the con we should have some things up for sale somewhere in case you want some Amu’s World merch or just want to support the comic. Thanks again for reading!

Photo Phriday 27 – Lineup

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Today’s photo isn’t exactly inspired, but we’ve been really busy trying to put the finishing touches on things we’re bringing to our first convention appearance representing the comic. Excitement is through the roof. These guys can’t even face it.

OK, very bad pun at 1:30am. These Katamari Prince amigurumi are show awaiting faces, but let it be known we will have some at Balticon. If you’re a fan of either the comic or Amu’s amigurumi, or if you’ve missed out on one of Amu’s amigurumi princes in the past, stop on by to pick one up.

This may be our first con, but we’ve got 3 more appearances lined up through the end of this year. We hope to see you at one of them.

Back From Balticon – Part 1

Monday, May 25th, 2009

We’d like to say THANK YOU to everyone at Balticon who stopped by the table to pick up one of Amu’s amigurumi or some Amu’s World postcards, or even just to say howdy and talk for a bit. We had a blast and hope next year to book a room at the hotel so we can stay a bit later.

Tomorrow I’ll have a lot more to say about our first convention representing the comic, but while I spend some time today catching up on things I wanted to make sure we thanked everyone we ran into and talked to at the convention. Thanks again, and we hope you had a tremendous time.

NOTE TO FOLKS WHO BOUGHT AMIGURUMI: If at Balticon you purchased an amigurumi Prince or Ninja (Or Juan), we would absolutely love to see what they get up to. If you get a chance to take photos of what their day is like with you please send them in. We’d be tickled goofy to see these guys up to hijinks while in your care. Just grab our e-mail addresses from the CONTACT page and send us anything crazy these guys do.

Re: Unlikely Escort

Everyone has an idol. We all have someone we look up to that inspires us to be greater, or who makes is wish we were capable of doing the things they do. In today’s comic, Kuno and Momo are waiting to meet theirs. It can be really nerve wracking to meet your idol. Trust me, I know.

It was just a few years ago, and some close friends of mine and I were in the small lobby area of a restaurant/clubin Annapolis after a show talking to John Mayer before he became, well, John Mayer. He wasn’t my idol. He hadn’t even cut his first album yet at the time. My idol was in the other room, surrounded by people with more ambition than I.

I don’t go to see Glen Phillips everytime he’s in town. This is on purpose mostly, but sometimes I do just lose track. I just love his voice, and have said publicly that if a strange, sulfur smelling man promised me the voice of Glen Phillips if I killed one thousand babies that there would be plenty fewer babies on the planet. Seriously. Sometimes I avoid seeing him live because it reminds me I used to love singing. I don’t do it so much anymore.

So I missed my shot to meet my idol. I did get to meet John Mayer pre-ego though. That guy was pretty cool. I wonder what happened?
